Harless Custom Cabinetwork provides a full range of services related to cabinetmaking, maintenance and renovation of cabinets and remodeling on cabinet or woodworking focused projects.
As we have introduced our custom work on our home page and in a photo gallery on a following page I would like to recap some of the related and auxiliary services we offer.
Cabinet Refacing; an alternative to replacement or full remodeling in the case of a kitchen.
Our focus is on quality wood refacing, but laminates, thermofoils and painted MDF can also be used.
Typically the cost might be 50% of a custom cabinet using similar materials,and if one considers the savings from avoiding unneeded demolition and remodeling (in a case where the layout is acceptable) or factors such as working around a granite countertop in place, the savings can be significant.
Savings can also be achieved in the commercial or institutional environment. Some of our projects have included renovation of classrooms at Greenwich Academy with a combination of refacing existing doors with new oak veneer and refinishing doors and woodwork to match an existing stain color while avoiding full cabinet replacement and disturbance of existing countertops and plumbing.
Another project at the former Courtland Gardens nursing home in Stamford, was to remove dark and depressing slab doors and drawer fronts from existing kitchenettes and replace them with glowing natural oak in solid wood,again avoiding the costs and demolition of full replacement.
Of course the residential kitchen and bath are the primary arena for refacing and the advantages are numerous when budget or ease of completion make refacing desirable.
Many customers don’t realize that with skilled execution refacing can achieve a result that rivals high-end wood cabinetry and the result often exceeds their expectations.
Finishing work is another specialty of our shop and our expertise in this area allows us to produce custom quality finishes that fulfill our customers decorative wishes while meeting durability and functional requirements. We can produce samples, working with the customer, to ensure that the finished product will have the color, gloss and finishing treatments desired. Many custom treatments are possible working with stains, sealers, toners, washcoats, glazes, clearcoats and using various application techniques including spraying, brushing, stippling, hand ragging and padding, buffing and antiquing; the possibilities are almost endless. Durable opaque lacquers are also available for a painted effect with added durability for the kitchen, bath or millwork.
Design-Build Remodeling Services; with 25 years experience in the construction industry, working in all phases of residential construction and also on light commercial projects, we can handle the job from start to finish and provide design and remodeling work for your kitchen, bath or special room in addition to the cabinetry and woodworking.
Kitchen Tune-Up; go to the experts for cleaning, maintaining and enhancing your kitchen. We can adjust and repair European style hinges and other hardware and also offer many types of storage accessories and upgrades to help you maximize use and function of your existing kitchen.
Countertops; We personally design, fabricate and install wood and laminate countertops. We also offer many exiting new solid surface materials, and can also recommend a Granite fabricator/installer or will work with your natural stone supplier.
Finish Carpentry; We can supply and install fine mouldings and millwork. A recent project we worked on was the installation of millwork and trim at the new Capital Grille at the Stamford Mall. We're also specialists in designer and high-end hardware.
